Pine Tree Way

Space for all the family is a common request for us, and that space can take many different forms.

Sometimes it needs to be a family space and grown-up space all in one and then behave differently when circumstances change. From being mum and dad back to being young enough to party (at least over dinner…), with a lush green garden overlooking woodland thrown into the mix – this is a great challenge for us to take on. That's exactly what we delivered for these Banchory-based clients.

When extending a home out into such an idyllic and gorgeous woodland garden, it was important that whatever was built related to this context and distinguished between old and new with contemporary materials. This kitchen/dining/living space was designed to allow natural light to flow in throughout the day, and the woodburning stove provides warmth and comfort during the winter months.

A new versatile space with garden access that changes purpose as required – a kitchen, a reading nook, a family living area, a grown-up party space separate from the rest of the house where little people may be sleeping. Capped off with a truly peaceful feature window seat for settling down to enjoy the scenery and a good book, in all seasons.
