A year at Tinto Architecture, and our vision for 2020

As another tremendous year comes to an end here at Tinto Architecture, it’s nice to reflect on all that's been achieved by the team in 2019, before the focus shifts to planning towards the exciting year we have ahead.

Who else better to sum up the year at Tinto than our fantastic team? Here are some of their personal highlights from this year and their 2020 ambitions…

Richard Tinto, Managing Director:

“2019 has been a year of great change and learning for the Tinto team. We have invested lots of time and money in developing systems and processes that will allow us to continue our growth in 2020.

“Without giving too much away, 2020 will see a significant rebrand for the business and an additional office location to meet demand across the country. We have also secured some really exciting work across all sectors, with new office fit-outs, residential extensions and new builds, and some really exciting venues to look out for…”

Lisa McGirr, Interior Designer:

“My highlight has been joining the team at the start of the year, working on a wide range of projects and furthering my skills.

“I am most looking forward to starting new projects on site at the beginning of the year. I am also looking forward to being part of a team which is growing and going from strength to strength.”

Ruth Thomson, Architect:

“I have continued to enjoy seeing projects through from survey to site. In particular seeing one of my first projects at Tinto through to completion on-site this month.

“I am really looking forward to working on more conservation projects in 2020 and continuing to work towards my conservation accreditation.”

Steven Kemp, Architectural Technologist:

“It feels like 2019 has been a very busy year, and I’ve enjoyed the variety of projects we’ve had in the office. We’ve been expanding our use of Revit on projects and using point cloud data as part of our regular workflows, so it's been good to keep learning and improving on what we can offer our clients.

“We have a number of large scale projects which are due to hit site in 2020, so I’m looking forward to these going live as I have been working on them since I joined Tinto over a year ago. I am excited and looking forward to being involved with jobs based all over Scotland and some even further afield.”

Nina Cradock, Interior Architectural Designer:

“At the start of the year we were lucky enough to be awarded a Trade Award for the interior of Vovem. This project was worked on by so many of us in the office and it was great to get recognition for the hard work that went into the project. This led to a nomination for the best designed restaurant at the National Bar and Restaurant Design Awards. The project made the shortlist and came in 7th place from 48 entries and it was the only restaurant in Scotland in the top 10.

“The interiors team has been working on some really interesting conceptual projects at the end of 2019 and I can’t wait to see them come to life in 2020. I look forward to going into the new year with a strong design team, to see if we can continue to make our mark in the city of Aberdeen.”

Martyna Kulesza , Architectural Technologist:

“My main highlight of this year was getting my associate membership status from CIAT (Chartered Institute of Architectural Technology) which is a global membership qualifying body for Architectural Technology. It represents those practising and studying within the discipline and profession.

“I am looking forward to progressing my membership, passing my interview, and professional assessment in CIAT to qualify as a Chartered Architectural Technologist that specialises in technology of architecture focusing on the design of buildings for use and performance. And making my designs work for our clients and ensuring that they achieve the maximum use of space.”

It’s safe to say that it has been a busy and rewarding year here at Tinto Architecture, and with a busy 2020 planned, the team will be working extremely hard to help our clients create the best spaces possible in the new year.
